What to record
Photograph the accessible rating plate and keep the full model, serial, service and product numbers. Include suffixes and punctuation. A receipt or approximate age may not identify the installed version.
Where to look safely
Washing machine
Look around the accessible door opening for the full rating label; do not move a heavy machine to find it.
Washer-dryer
Record the complete model at the accessible door frame. Tell us it is one combined appliance, rather than a separate washing machine and dryer.
Tumble dryer
Use the accessible door-frame label. Record whether the dryer is vented, condenser or heat pump if you already know.
Dishwasher
The rating label is often on the accessible edge of the open door. Photograph all product and service identifiers.
Oven
Look for the accessible label around the oven door opening. For a double oven, state which cavity is affected.
Cooker
Find the rating plate only where safely accessible. State electric, gas or dual fuel and single, double or range format.
Hob
Use the model from an existing manual or an accessible label. Do not lift a fitted hob or reach under electrical connections.
Extractor hood
Look for a label only where visible during normal filter access. Leave wiring and covers undisturbed.
Standard fridge & freezer
Use the accessible cabinet label, often within the food compartment. Record the full model without moving the appliance.
Macerator
Record the exact model from an accessible label or existing paperwork. Do not open a waste-connected unit.
Food-waste disposal
Use the accessible underside label only if safe. Photograph the model without reaching into the grinding chamber.
No label available?
Say so. Give the brand, appliance type, visible controls and any existing paperwork. Do not dismantle or move equipment simply to find a label.
